Exploring Davanti’s Off-Road Tyres

25th October 2024

As the weather begins to turn, terrains will begin to become muddier and wetter, making driving that little bit trickier. Whilst 4×4 vehicles are designed to handle rough terrains such as dirt roads, rocky paths, and muddy trails, having the right tyres will increase overall driver safety, reliability and performance.

So, as motorists start to experience more challenging conditions, especially those who drive down country roads or over grasslands, it’s more important than ever that off-road tyres are considered. Davanti Tyres has two great examples, perfect for taking on tricky uneven surfaces – the Terratoura Mud-Terrain (M/T) and Terratoura All-Terrain (A/T).

Davanti Terratoura M/T

Only recently launched and engineered to scale steep, muddy slopes or uneven downhill terrain thanks to its unique tread and compound, key design features of the Terratoura M/T which will give drivers confidence for every mile this winter include:

  • Prominent shoulder blocks that continue around onto the sidewall providing excellent levels of traction, especially in situations where lateral grip may be hard to find.
  • Wide shoulder grooves are optimised for efficient dispersion of mud, sand and other debris, enhancing traction and control.
  • Notched alternative shoulder blocks create a sawtooth effect, providing a strong bite when navigating rutted tracks and rocky terrain from all steering angles.
  • A robust carcass construction provides high load endurance, as well as excellent resistance to damage and puncture in extreme conditions.

Davanti Terratoura A/T

Meanwhile, the Terratoura A/T has been designed to tackle extreme conditions and deliver reliable handling wherever a motorist may be.
An example of the Terratoura A/T’s performance – which talks for itself – is from its racing abilities.

Off-road rally legend, Edd Cobley, competed with them in the 2021 British Cross-Country Championships, coming first in his class.

Not only that, but the Terratoura A/T achieved a top ten position in a ranking of the best all-terrain tyres by Land Rover Monthly. Its list of accomplishments is extensive, also earning the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification for performance in wintry conditions.

Official achievements aside, it offers reliable handling whatever the terrain, thanks to unique design attributes including:·

  • 5 rib A/T pattern design, which provides exceptional performance both on and off-road. This tread design gives Terratoura A/T assured traction in all weather conditions.
  • Enhanced tread compounds that deliver the durability required for off-road endurance, while providing excellent grip in cold and wet conditions.
Tread support bars, are specially constructed bars offering assured and stable on-road performance and low noise.
  • A carcass construction that provides higher load capabilities, improved safety and protection, and harmonic load distribution for even treadwear.
  • Two longitudinal grooves running the circumference of the tyre, providing effective water evacuation and exceptional wet performance.
  • Wide shoulder grooves also allow for efficient dispersion of mud, sand and dust, increasing traction in off-road conditions.

The Terratoura A/T and the new Terratoura M/T’s designs have set a new benchmark for mud handling and off-road capabilities. At UTAC in Finland, both faced demanding arctic conditions, before heading to UTAC in England to have it’s performance on mud, sand, and grass challenged, as well as it’s gravel braking capabilities.

It is safe to say they are both great options for those looking to head off-road this winter!
