Team Geriatric prepares for 2022 season with new car build
25th February 2022Team Geriatric is preparing for the new racing season, with work currently ongoing on a new car to replace last season’s Toyota MR2, which was severely damaged at the end of the Retro Rallycross series.
This season, Tony Lynch will be aiming to compete on two fronts, with the Retro Rallycross and the British Rally Championship on the agenda for the team.
The new car is still a work in progress but Team Geriatric hopes that it will be ready in time for the opening BTRDA meeting of the year at Blyton Park Race Circuit in late March, however Tony admits that this will be more of a test run for the new car.
“It will be the first time out for the new car” said Tony Lynch, driver for Team Geriatric.
“Although we will be trying our best, we must accept and know from our experience that we will be having to use the day to test and learn the new car.”
“We have been about this game long enough and feel we can still be confident of winning the title in 2022.”
In the meantime, Tony and the team will be practising with a standard Toyota MR2 ahead of the start of the season, with a track day booked in at the same track hosting the curtain raiser over in Lincoln for the British Championship Season.
‘Lynchy’ will be hoping a few hot laps in his spare Mark I MR2 will keep him fresh going into the new season and ready to embark on a successful campaign again – in partnership with Landsail Tyres.
