Tony Lynch edges closer to BTRDA title at Lydden Hill

26th September 2025

An impressive weekend of racing at Lydden Hill saw Tony Lynch move one step closer to securing the Classics class BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship title.

The battle between Lynch, Simon Hart and Dan Swayland continued in the Retro Rallycross Championship, with Tony securing one first and two second places in qualifying, landing him head of the grid in the final in his Peugeot 205. Unfortunately he couldn’t quite keep both rivals at bay, with Swayland claiming first place in his Ford Escort. However, Lynch still managed to finish second place above Hart.

The successful weekend continued as Lynch also scored maximum points in the BTRDA Classics, giving him a positive entry into the Knockhill finale.

Tony said:

“It turned out to be a really good weekend, and the end results were probably better than I expected them to be.

“Had we been going to Lydden Hill with the Toyota then I think we would have been expecting to challenge for victory but it was a bit more of a step into the unknown with the Peugeot.

“As it was, we had a trouble free weekend and the car didn’t miss a beat, which is credit to the team for their hard work as always. We didn’t quite have the outright pace to challenge Dan for top honours but it was great to come away from the event with a second place overall finish, and with maximum points towards the BTRDA title.

“It leaves us in a really strong position with one round to go at Knockhill and we’ll be going there looking to try and wrap up the championship crown, which would be an amazing achievement given the position we were in earlier in the year.”
