Strong result for Team Geriatric at Glosso

Tony Lynch – the Landsail Tyres Motorsport Team Geriatric driver – celebrated second place in Round 5 of the Retro Rallycross Championship race in Glosso, Belgium on 6-7 August.

After the success of his double win at Pembrey in the third and fourth rounds where Tony moved to the top of the championship standings, the Landsail Tyres racer made the trip to Belgium in the hope of gaining further titles.

Tony had never visited the Glosso circuit before, but quickly became familiar with the track behind the wheel of his Toyota MR2. After competitive qualifying heats, Tony lined up in second place for the final.

Fighting hard to get ahead of the Mini of Terry Moore off the line, Tony grabbed the early lead before coming under attack from his rival, who battled his way back to the front. However, Tony followed him home in second place to ensure a solid haul of points that enabled him to retain his position at the head of the standings ahead of Rounds 6 and 7 of the campaign at Pembrey later this month on 27 August 2022.

Tony said: “It would have been nice to come away from the trip to Belgium with victory, but second place is a good result in terms of the championship as we were able to finish ahead of our main rivals.

“Having never visited Glosso before, we weren’t sure how the car would perform but the pace was good from the outset. The work we did ahead of the weekend proved to be positive, and we made further improvements that will benefit us going forward.

“Terry just had a little bit too much for us in the final, but the important thing is that we stayed out of trouble and put some good points on the board, so now we can look forward to the return to Pembrey later this month and hope to replicate our winning form there.”
