Silvia Franchini kicks off her rally season

Silvia Franchini began her 2023 racing season at the 10th edition of the Terra di Argil Rally alongside co driver Nicoletta Deidda.
Consisting of three special stages across the Lazio region, including; La Fontane (7.49km) in Pofi, Le Fai (7.10km) in Ripi, and Ezio Palombi (7.49km) in Castro dei Volsci, Silvia competed in her Davanti-branded Mini Cooper S.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan from the very start of the weekend, as persistent engine problems caused Franchini and Deidda to retire from the competition at stage 3.
The problems initially began in shakedown when the engine cut out, although this appeared to be resolved during the service and practise continued. However the issue returned on Sunday ahead of the race, which caused Franchini and Deidda to be late to registration for stage 1 and resulted in a time penalty. Despite this, the team went on to compete and completed stage 2 without any issues.
The bad luck didn’t end there though, as the problem returned at stage 3, this time causing smoke to enter the car, so the team were forced to retire from the event.
Silvia will next compete at the Rally del Matese on 9th and 10th July.

Silvia Franchini dà il via alla sua stagione di rally
Silvia Franchini ha iniziato la sua stagione agonistica 2023 alla 10° edizione del Rally Terra di Argil al fianco della copilota Nicoletta Deidda.
Composta da tre prove speciali in tutta la regione Lazio, tra cui; La Fontane (7,49 km) a Pofi, Le Fai (7,10 km) a Ripi ed Ezio Palombi (7,49 km) a Castro dei Volsci, Silvia ha gareggiato con la sua Mini Cooper S targata Davanti.
Sfortunatamente, le cose non sono andate secondo i piani fin dall’inizio del fine settimana, poiché i persistenti problemi al motore hanno causato il ritiro di Franchini e Deidda dalla competizione nella fase 3.
I problemi sono iniziati inizialmente durante lo shakedown quando il motore si è spento, anche se questo sembrava essere stato risolto durante il servizio e la pratica è continuata. Tuttavia il problema si è ripresentato domenica prima della gara, il che ha fatto ritardare Franchini e Deidda alla registrazione per la prima tappa e ha comportato una penalità di tempo. Nonostante ciò, il team ha continuato a gareggiare e ha completato la fase 2 senza problemi.
La sfortuna però non è finita qui, poiché il problema si è ripresentato nella fase 3, questa volta causando l’ingresso di fumo in macchina, quindi il team è stato costretto al ritiro dalla competizione.
Silvia gareggerà di nuovo al Rally del Matese il 9 e 10 Luglio.
