Rally del Matese proves disappointing for Silvia Franchini

Italian racing driver Silvia Franchini and her co-driver Nicoletta Deidda battled the odds in the Rally del Matese, but success was not destined for the pairing.

Soaring temperatures and night racing made the nine-stage race even more technically challenging. With the asphalt course spanning the event headquarters, Piedimonte Matese, there was plenty of pressure felt from the competitors.

Silvia commented:

“It was a fascinating race, with the technical and fast stages made even more difficult when competing at night. The torrid heat was exhausting and increased the difficulty of the special stages, putting a strain on the crew’s performance and that of the Mini Coopers.

“In fact, the Mini started to play up as early as the second special stage, demoralising the crew who were about to give up. However the presence of the other teams, the team president and the encouragement from the public acted as a push to keep us going and cross the finish line on the first day.

“On the second day of the race, unfortunately we were unable to solve the car’s technical issues, but we will not give up and we will continue to reach our goals. See you at the next rally!”

Silvia will next compete at the Rally Roma Capitale from 28th-30th July.

Il Rally del Matese si rivela deludente per Silvia Franchini

La pilota italiana Silvia Franchini e la sua copilota Nicoletta Deidda hanno sfidato le probabilità nel Rally del Matese, ma il successo non era destinato alla coppia.

Le alte temperature e le corse notturne hanno reso la corsa a nove tappe ancora più impegnativa dal punto di vista tecnico. Con il percorso in asfalto che attraversava il quartier generale dell’evento, Piedimonte Matese, c’era molta pressione da parte dei concorrenti.

Silvia ha commentato:

“È stata una gara affascinante, con le tappe tecniche e veloci rese ancora più difficili quando si gareggia in notturna. Il caldo torrido è stato estenuante e ha aumentato la difficoltà delle prove speciali, mettendo a dura prova le prestazioni dell’equipaggio e delle Mini Cooper.

“La Mini, infatti, ha iniziato a dare problemi già dalla seconda prova speciale, demoralizzando l’equipaggio che stava per arrendersi. Tuttavia la presenza delle altre squadre, del presidente della squadra e l’incoraggiamento del pubblico hanno agito da spinta per farci andare avanti e tagliare il traguardo il primo giorno.

“Nel secondo giorno di gara, purtroppo non siamo riusciti a risolvere i problemi tecnici della vettura, ma non ci arrenderemo e continueremo a raggiungere i nostri obiettivi. Ci vediamo al prossimo raduno!”

Silvia gareggerà prossimamente al Rally Roma Capitale dal 28 al 30 luglio.
