Our off-roading legend, Edd Cobley, kickstarts the British Cross Country Championship season

28th May 2024

Off-road rally legend Edd Cobley has been back in his much loved and custom-built Land Rover 110 doublecab – known as Skippy 2.0 – racing in the first two rounds of the British Cross Country Championship (BXCC) season.

Often a two-day event, the BXCC combines elements of rallying and off-roading with competitors driving a varied mix of offroad vehicles. As part of Edd’s set up, he competes on a standard set of Terratoura A/T’s – the same that can be bought off the shelf by any other customer.

So, with Edd and Skippy ready to take on the season, let’s recap on how Edd has managed in the first two races this year…

The first round of the BXCC took place in Pickering, North Yorkshire and despite tough weather conditions and one mechanical issue, Edd, Skippy 2.0 and the Davanti Terratoura A/T’s managed to complete the necessary stages with a time that put him first in class and 16th overall.

From there, Edd ventured to Ceri Forest in Wales for round two. A flawless day one performance saw him finish day one 1st in class and 12th overall. However, on day two, after a collision with a fence post and electrical issues causing Skippy 2.0 to lose power, Edd dropped down to 19th in the standings at the end of the event.

Although Edd faced some tough luck, knowing the car and tyres were in line for another 1st in class finish and a strong overall classification should the weekend have gone smoother, Edd and Skippy 2.0 are very much looking forward to racing round three of the BXCC.
