Olympic legend Sir Chris Hoy unveiled as Protoura Sport ambassador

12th April 2021

Davanti Tyres is aiming to outpace the ordinary with motorsport ace, Olympic legend – and new Protoura Sport ambassador – Sir Chris Hoy MBE.

Sir Chris has been unveiled as brand ambassador for Davanti’s next-generation ultra-high performance tyre, designed for the most powerful road-going sports cars and supercars.

As a British sporting legend Sir Chris is no stranger to speed. After retiring from cycling as one of the most decorated Olympians in history, he embarked on a new career in motorsport.

His competitive nature and skill have helped him win races in the European LeMans Series, the GT4 24hr Series and compete in series ranging from rallycross to endurance to the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

“I’m so proud to become the brand ambassador for Davanti’s Protoura Sport tyre,” said Sir Chris. “It’s no secret I love driving and motorsport, they have always been a passion of mine.

“Whether in my cycling or in my motorsport career, I’m always looking for that winning edge. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary.

“I’ve always been passionate about driving and motorsport and Protoura Sport enhances everything I love about driving – the feeling of a connection to the car and the road or track, the sensation of speed and control.

“For me, becoming elite is the result of marginal gains – squeezing out every drop of performance where you can.

“What Davanti have done with Protoura Sport is explore every avenue of performance to enhance handling, grip, braking and longevity. The result is a tyre that is as equally at home on the track as it is on the road. A true drivers’ tyre.”

“We are proud to welcome Sir Chris to the Davanti family,” said Davanti Tyres General Manager Peter Cross. “As someone with a reputation built on elite-level performance, both on two wheels and four, he perfectly embodies Protoura Sport.”

“With Protoura Sport, we’ve created a tyre with many new and innovative features to set a new bar for responsiveness, handling and performance.

“Protoura Sport is the most advanced tyre that we have ever produced,” said Peter.

“We set out to create a truly elite UHP tyre and, having subjected it to intensive development and independent testing, including submitting it to DEKRA and TUV testing agencies, Protoura Sport has exceeded all our expectations.”
