Hoy secures podium finish at Donington Park GP
29th September 2022It was a successful weekend for Sir Chris Hoy in the penultimate round of the Sports Prototype Cup.
After securing P3 in qualifying, Hoy was in a positive position for race one of the two twenty minute sprint races.
After things were looking promising for Morris as he took third and was heading Hoy and Booth, he suddenly had to pit with just two laps to go. This gave Hoy the advantage, making him the third overall Cup car and second in the class.
Although race two saw Clark and Morris in the top two grid spots, Hoy took the lead after a stunning start, then it was a battle between Clark, Morris and Abbott. But trouble struck for Abbott, leaving Clark in a comfortable class lead over Hoy, Morris and Booth. In the Revolution class, Hoy just missed out on gold when he slowed with two laps to go, giving Morris a class win and Hoy second place.
