Envoy ambassador Dan Zelos makes his Porsche Sprint Challenge debut

8th May 2025

Dan Zelos took to the track at Donington Park for the first Porsche Sprint Challenge racing weekend of the season, sporting his Envoy-branded Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

As his first competitive appearance back in a rear-wheel drive in nearly ten years – following a hugely successful career in the Mini Challenge Championship – Zelos had little expectations beyond a midfield battle, but far exceeded that.

Despite heading into the season opener having just one practice start under his belt, Zelos climbed to a very respectable sixth place, only seven-tenths-of-a-second shy of the fifth spot. He did incur a track limits penalty which saw him relegated to 11th place, but remained pleased with his impressive performance overall, which included a best lap time merely 0.162 seconds off the fastest.

Having gained some momentum on day one, Dan entered race two with huge pace, finishing half a second shy of a podium place and only 2.3 seconds behind the winner. This positioned him comfortably to climb to second place, but a tag at the rear end sent him spinning into the gravel and caused a double puncture, signalling the end of the race.

Commenting on the weekend, Zelos said:

“Wow, what a weekend! Overall, I’m very pleased with the development and pace we showed in the Porsche at Donington, and there are so many positives to take away. We made massive leaps forward in every session, and I’m pretty confident we could have battled for a podium in race three.

“My…car felt absolutely phenomenal. I loved every moment and I’m already looking forward to coming out fighting at Brands Hatch – bring it on!”
