Dan Zelos shortlisted for Motorsport News National Racing Driver of the year award
27th October 2021Davanti Tyres racing driver Dan Zelos has been shortlisted for the inaugural Motorsport News National Racing Driver of the Year award, featuring alongside some of the best touring car, GT and F4 drivers in British racing.
Motorsport News has launched this award to recognise the national-level drivers whose outstanding performances have not only put them on the road to victory, but have delighted autosport fans with their drama and bravery.
“I’m so proud to have been included on the shortlist,” said Dan. “This season the preparation me and the team have done has really paid off.
“Not only did team Excelr8 prep the Davanti car so well during the season, I also stayed sharp off-season by driving and competing on a virtual reality e-racing simulator.
“Together those efforts helped us get off to a great start and we have built momentum from there.
“Obviously I’d love to win the National Racing Driver of the Year award, but to simply be nominated is an honour.”
The award nomination is not the only thing Dan is celebrating. He was crowned 2021 Mini Challenge champion after an intense weekend of racing at Brands Hatch.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet what we’ve achieved. Just racing in cars was a dream for me growing up, and even after we started to live that dream, I still always felt like the underdog. To now be the one lifting the big trophy is crazy.”
