Dan Zelos doubles up to race in MSL FastR Touring Car eSeries

Davanti Tyres driver Dan Zelos will take on a new challenge this weekend – the MSL FastR Touring Car eSeries.
Driving a virtual VW Golf touring car, The Dereham ace will take on BTCC names including Senna Proctor and Dave Newsham, plus some of his Mini Challenge rivals and some of the UK’s elite simracers.
Zelos will compete in two races – livestreamed on the Mini Challenge UK’s facebook and Youtube pages – at Silverstone National as he continues his quest for glory in the Mini eSeries for Davanti eSports from 9.45am.
Then he will shift his focus to Snetterton, where his new-look Davanti touring car will join the field in round four of the championship.
“It’s going to be pretty full-on,” he said. ‘This is one of the premium eSeries’ in British simracing.
“It’s the same set-up as the Mini Challenge – run by Virtual Reality Racing Club (VRRC) on the Assetto Corsa platform – but the racing is very different.
“The cars have been created with help from real-world drivers so they perform and handle almost identically to real-life touring cars. There’s a lot more power too and even the transfer of weight through the corners and braking is replicated. There’s no room for error if you want to be successful.
“The Golf is really fun to drive and I can’t wait to get out there and see what I can do with it.”
The series is not affiliated to the BTCC, but that hasn’t stopped drivers starved of track time due to the pandemic signing up to take part.
“There’s a few BTCC drivers in the field,” said Dan. “It’s a great opportunity to go head-to-head and get a feel for the competition. but it’s not about opportunities. It’s about going out there and showing what I can do.
“I am looking to make my mark on the championship under the Davanti eSports banner.”
