Be prepared with Landsail’s winter tyre range

31st January 2025

Wetter, colder British winters put extra strain on summer tyres- but Landsail has a great value range of winter tyres to help motorists drive with confidence in icy, snowy or freezing conditions.

So if you’re searching for winter tyres, Landsail’s advanced compound is designed to adapt to cold temperatures, Maintaining traction on all surfaces –  whether wet, snowy, or dry. To help you choose the tyre for you, we’ve put together a handy guide to our winter range below.

Do I need winter tyres?

First off, are winter tyres needed? Unlike many European countries, it’s not a legal requirement in the UK to use winter tyres during colder months. As a result, many people still use their summer tyres year-round.

However, summer tyres harden in lower temperatures, losing traction which can make your vehicle more vulnerable on snow and ice. In contrast, inter tyres remain flexible, improving traction, stability and braking performance in harsh conditions.

The Landsail Winter Range

  • Landsail Winter Lander – A tyre designed for winter performance, with a wet-traction v-shaped tread pattern to reduce aquaplaning and sipes laid out in high-density waves to tackle the snow. Sipes and grooves are also designed to stay open to improve traction further. The Winter Lander is available in 34 fitments ranging from 13-18”. Learn more on the Winter Lander product page.
  • Landsail Winter Star –  If you have an SUV or 4×4, Landsail’s Winter Star tyre offers the same benefits, with a three-rib ‘arrow’ block down the centre to drive debris and water through more powerfully for higher traction vehicles.  Our SUV tyres also come with an advanced shoulder design to aid in evacuating water and reduce the risk of aquaplaning, and 3D sipes to keep you stable in the snow. The Winter Star is available in 9 fitments ranging from 16- 18” Learn more on the Winter Star product page.
  • Landsail Snow Star – Our winter van tyre delivers the traction, durability and performance required for the coldest weather conditions.  Snowstar similar to other tyres in our winter range are designed for superior wet grip without sacrificing the handling of your vehicle even when carrying heavy loads. Snowstar is available in 7 fitments ranging from 15 – 16” Learn more on the Snow Star product page.

All Landsail winter tyres are  3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snowflake) certified, meaning they have been tested in the extremes and meet strict performance standards required for sale in countries where winter tyres are mandatory, you can learn more about 3PMSF certifications on our blog

“When conditions make driving tougher you need to give yourself the advantage,” said Landsail UK Brand Manager Chris Saunders.
