AIA driving instructor champions Protoura Race

Despite being new to the market, Protoura Race has already proven to be a key player on track, helping drivers to achieve podium results. Not only has it been selected as the control tyre for the Mini Challenge Clubsport and the Suzuki Swift Challenge, but it is also now the chosen tyre for the AIA’s (Autodromo Internacional Algarve) fleet of vehicles at its racing school in Portugal.
Known as one of the most technically challenging race circuits in the world and host to the European Le Mans Series and 24H Endurance Series, Davanti is able to receive regular, direct feedback from drivers at AIA on the performance of Protoura Race under sustained, extreme stress.
AIA driving instructor, Edgar Gonçalves, tested the tyre for himself, stating that it excelled. “It has proved to have unbeatable consistency, reliability and speed.”
In the video below he talks through the key technical features of the tyre, including the cross section in the tread which helps get the tyre up to temperature quickly without compromising performance by overheating.
He also points out the tread features that help the tyre to disperse water when driving in wet conditions, and how the shape of the shoulder helps with a direct steering response, which is critical when driving on the track.
