The Davanti tyres runflat range breakdown

19th August 2024

Data from last year indicates a 66%* surge in claims related to pothole damage to vehicles filed with local authorities. At the same time that potholes continue to plague motorists, many car manufacturers have ditched conventional spare wheels, which can leave drivers feeling more vulnerable and is a hot topic of discussion in garages up and down the country.

The answer to this for many is runflat tyres. While having standard tyres might result in being stranded by the roadside, runflat tyres are designed with reinforced sidewalls that can support the weight of a vehicle in the case of a puncture. This in turn allows motorists to keep control of the steering and brakes, giving extra time to find a safe place to pull over.

Davanti Tyres prides itself on leading the way in tyre design, thanks to its extensive research and development process that ensures all Davanti tyres exceed the standard requirements, giving drivers peace of mind when getting from A to B. And whilst motorists contend with troubled road surfaces, with Davanti Tyres runflat range, drivers can enjoy extraordinary levels of performance they have come to trust from Davanti, with the technical features of a runflat tyre.

But what are the unique features of our runflat tyres, aside from their leading runflat technology…

The DX390 runflat

  • The DX390 runflat is a high-performance asymmetric tyre for compact vehicles and smaller passenger cars. Its dynamic design features include:
  • Three main blocks featuring a 3D design that dynamically changes performance as the tread depth decreases
  • Varying treat block pitch and compartmentalising grooves work together to minimise and contain noise
  • Flared block sections combined with a continual longitudinal band to provide excellent traction
  • Integrated rim protection to prevent wheel damage
  • Four wide and deep groove channels designed for optimal drainage and excellent handing in wet weather

The DX640 runflat

  • Davanti’s DX640 runflat is a car and SUV tyre for maximum grip and ultra-high performance, thanks to features including:
  • An asymmetric design with a continuous outer band for advanced cornering grip and an inner tapered block design for wet weather traction
  • Flared shoulder block layout with compartmentalised grooves which actively contain noise and deliver a quiet drive
  • Innovative block shapes that vary with tread wear to provide progressive performance throughout the tyre’s life
  • Integrated rim protection to prevent wheel damage
  • Four longitudinal grooves to provide optimal water dissipation, enabling a superior level of wet grip

Protoura Sport DSP Runflat

Last year Davanti expanded the Protoura Sport range, launching the Protoura Sport DSP Runflat. The UHP tyre offers extraordinary levels of power and precision, alongside runflat technology, thanks to features including:

  • Maximised contact patch: The solid continuous centre rib transfers cornering forces to the tyre structure and maximises contact with the road
  • Hydro-dynamic dimples: The rhombus-shaped reliefs disrupt flow closest to the tyre surface, resulting in reduced drag and more efficient water evacuation
  • Modified outer channels: To minimise road noise output, the Protoura Sport’s outer channels have been engineered with constricted notches
  • Ribbed and serrated block edges: Under longitudinal force, ribbed and serrated block edges bite into the road and provide an efficiently focused braking force
  • Innovative trapezoid projections: The inner groove also features innovative trapezoid projections that create low-pressure zones and aid the flow of water from the inner groove

So, whilst potholes continue to plague the roads, there’s a range of runflat tyre options to provide peace of mind and performance for vehicles on the road.
