It was a familiar site in Thruxton for round two of the Mini Challenge Clubsport, as Oli Willmott, Andy Langley and Daniel Truman all kept hold of their 100 per cent records in the three classes.

A field of 14 cars took to the track for qualifying on Davanti’s Protoura Race tyres. Willmott stormed to pole position, putting him more than nine-tenths of a second clear of Langley, and more than a second ahead of his closest class rival Freddy Hewitt.

In the opening race on Saturday, Langley and Hewitt were out to dominate over Wilmott. Langley took the lead on the run up to the Complex, with Hewitt claiming second spot.

Hewitt’s pace suddenly dropped away though, making space for Wilmott to move back in and forcing Langley to fight for his leading position. As the pair lapped Cooper runner Chris Aram at the end of lap seven, Langley went too deep into the final chicane and ran wide, allowing Willmott to take the lead all the way to the finish and claim his fourth consecutive overall win. Langley maintained his perfect record in the R53 class in second overall.

It was a similar story throughout the remainder of the weekend, with Wilmott, Langley and Hewitt in a constant battle for a podium finish, but Wilmott managed to remain undefeated despite the best efforts of his rivals.

Elsewhere on the track, Truman dominated the Coopers and after a perfect run, he secured a hat trick of wins for the weekend. Meanwhile, Freya Belk and Paul Sawyer battled for a place on the podium, eventually both making it on more than one occasion over the weekend.
