It was an intense battle between professional racer Adam Blair and novice Shay Brennan in rounds 6 and 7 of the Suzuki Swift Challenge at Brands Hatch.

First-time racer Shay Brennan began the series as a strong contender, and has continued to make huge progress, taking two places on the podium across the weekend.

He maintained his second place position from the grid in the first race, only slipping down one place to third in race two. Brennan also achieved two fastest lap times, with him and Adam the only drivers to do so over the weekend.

Adam Blair took two wins from two, securing his championship lead.

Unfortunately the same success couldn’t be said for Ray Collier. After a significant amount of rebuilding and last minute repairs, the cars were finally approved to race. But despite the team’s best efforts, further issues with the gearbox, recurring low power and lean running returned after replacing a number of sensors. This made it too risky to take Ray’s car on track, and the decision was made to withdraw altogether.

Commenting on the vehicle issues, Adam said:

“There was a lot of work involved in the days preceding the races as we had to take the car first to Stoke on Trent and then to Luton to be dyno’d after having an engine change due to a blow up at Cadwell Park.”

Talking about his success over the race weekend, he continued:

“We had another great weekend. Qualifying was pretty easy and we only did five laps but as the races went on the competition got faster and faster until I was having to drive the last race on my mirrors! I was really surprised how quick Shay Brennan was in particular, as he has never been to Brands Hatch before in his life. Amazing really.

“All in all, very happy and looking forward to BOTH Davanti cars being up the front in the last two rounds. We just need to sort out the problems Ray has been having, and then I’m confident we can be.”
