David Cox finishes with an exciting end to his 2025 season at Oulton Park

30th October 2025

The final BRSCC race of the season at Oulton Park began with a typical British rain shower during the initial qualifying session. This led to a challenging yet thrilling event for David Cox. Despite the weather, his vehicle successfully passed scrutineering, and as the qualifier progressed, he gained confidence, noting, “The car felt surprisingly good in the rain.”

The qualifier

The initial qualifying session of the weekend at the final race of the season for the BRSCC was met with a standard British downpour of rain, creating some ups and downs for David Cox for what was set to be a chaotic but exciting event at Oulton Park. Fortunately, the vehicle passed the scrutineering, and once the qualifier had begun, he was gaining confidence, commenting: “The car felt surprisingly good in the rain”.

Early success placed him in 5th, but his string of misfortune had just begun. He soon dropped to 12th, and later a red flag restart prevented him from regaining his position, with David finishing 23rd from the 34 cars on the grid.

The Main Event

With David on the starting grid at 23rd, a lot of work was expected to catch up to secure success. However, David left with a plan to “stay out of trouble” and he was ready to make some places up. Sadly, his misfortune returned, and while he did manage to move up a couple of places, he took a heavy hit on the left rear, which sent the vehicle veering off the track. Fortunately, he came to a stop before hitting the fence, though the accident now put him at a serious disadvantage in last place.

Now the chase was on. Within 3 laps, Cox managed to make up some time, only two places back from where he started at 25th. Then disaster struck again with a collision with an Audi TT, which sent him spinning straight towards the fence again, this time not able to stop himself. Fortunately, he was still determined, and despite the big impact, he was able to recover and continue on ahead. The drama and bad luck weren’t over yet, though, with Cox admitting to a mistake in his underbraking, causing him to roll into the gravel at the lodge.

Despite the bad luck, he still managed to move up a few positions to finish the race in 21st position.

In Conclusion

Commenting on the eventful race, David said:

“It was a great race with so much happening, lots of fun, and the car is going home in one piece. The big plus of the day was running on Protoura Race tyres. They were faultless and ran well in the wet and damp conditions. I had a full feeling of the rear control slide and grip out of the corners, they are great, no issues even on the grass and gravel traps!”

“Overall, we have had a good year. Although issues with mechanical breakdowns and a big problem with the clutch all year made racing a little difficult, we finished every race with great support from our friends and fellow racers. A massive thanks to Davanti Tyres for their support – it certainly helps and encourages us to carry on. Also, thanks to Mark Evans for his help and support, it means a lot to us, and our tyre men at Walkers tyres who have been great support as usual. Finally, to ETS Services for the maintenance of the car all year.”
