David Cox experiences a dramatic race weekend at Croft

11th July 2025

It was a turbulent weekend of racing at Croft for David Cox in races 7 and 13 of the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship.

After replacing the front discs and fitting all new pads to his Davanti and Walkers Tyres-branded Golf prior to the race, qualifying saw Cox prioritise running these over a PB, which resulted in him starting 19th on the grid for race one.

It was a promising start for Cox, but his luck suddenly turned after the car stalled, sending him into the field and causing chaos on track with multiple cars colliding. Escaping with no damage to the car, he managed to restart the race, however after 5 laps, an issue with the gearbox forced David to retire from the race.

Despite these setbacks, David was impressed with the performance of Davanti’s Protoura Race tyres. He said:

“The tyres held well in all of the fast corners and turned in great through the Jim Clark Esses, so I’m very happy.”

David will be competing in the fourth round of the SW Motorsports Clubsport Trophy on 19th and 20th July at Snetterton.
