An action-packed Race of Remembrance weekend with Mission Motorsport

Mission Motorsport's Race of Remembrance 2025 event

Davanti was proud to support the 2025 Race of Remembrance weekend – run by the Forces’ Motorsport Charity, Mission Motorsport

Celebrating its 11th year, the 12-hour endurance race in Anglesey – which took place on 8th and 9th November – saw 50 teams made up of military veterans and associates participate across multiple classes, which made for an exhilarating, busy race full of thrilling action.

How the race unfolded

The winning team, Rob Boston Racing in Class D, won by eight laps in their Lotus Elise S1 piloted by Lee Brooks, Ben Brooks and Phil Grayson.

Having started the race on the front row the Lotus had an early advantage, and after the first seven hours of competition on Saturday, they had gained six laps on second place – the Stuart Humphrey Racing Mazda MX5.

When racing resumed at 9am on Sunday, the No.43 Lotus Elise S1 further increased its advantage over the Mazda – which came second overall – to eight laps, which they upheld all the way to the chequered flag.

A moment of remembrance

More than just a race though, the Sunday action was paused for the all-important Remembrance Service which took place in the pitlane – underpinning what the event is all about. All drivers, teams, marshals, circuit staff and supporters observed the two-minute silence at 11.00, with the final part of the race taking place between 11:30am and 3pm.

James Cameron, CEO of Mission Motorsport, said: “Race of Remembrance is a Remembrance Service and we drape a 12 hour endurance race over the top of it. In doing so, we bring that Remembrance Service to an audience of people who would not otherwise have experienced it…and it becomes something that is wonderful, restorative, healing and good fun.

“For those who leave the services, there are many obstacles which they face to become a successful civilian in life. Motorsport is a wonderful way to do it for those who are that way inclined. But it’s also a lovely way to bring people together.”

Across the racing teams, some people participated who have done it since the very beginning. But it’s not just the people that are regulars to the track, one Mazda-built vehicle has been a key part of every single Race of Remembrance event. Chris Harris – who brought his extensive driving experience to the 2025 event – drove this vehicle. “It’s an absolutely wonderful sweet little race car”, commented James Cameron.

Supporting the event

Being a charity, they rely on the generosity of partners and associates to keep such a high profile event running. Supporting the Mission Motorsport cars, Davanti donated their semi-slick Protoura Race tyres for the competition, which were well received by the charity and the drivers.

James said: “Of course, this event is expensive and we’re a charity. The cars that we run, we run as efficiently and effectively as we can, and so Davanti’s contribution is phenomenal for us because it’s underpinning an entire season of motorsport.”

Commenting on the Protoura Race tyres, Mark White, Operations Manager at Mission Motorsport, said:

“Throughout the grueling 12-hour event, Davanti’s tyres delivered a flawless performance, offering exceptional grip, consistency, and confidence in both wet and dry conditions. We’re proud to partner with a brand that never compromises.”

Steve Whitehead, driver for Mission Motorsport in the Subaru BRZ, also commented on the tyres: “I’m still buzzing from the experience, I loved every minute of it. The grip to me seemed great in all conditions.”

One of the most poignant elements of the event is the Race of Remembrance safety car. A Jaguar F-Type, it is an annual art therapy project which charity beneficiaries help to bring to life.

Speaking about the design, James said: “It’s owned by the charity…donated back in 2018, and it has got the words of Churchill’s speech from 1945 in it from VE day. It’s amazing, it’s photo reactive, it lights up in headlights or in direct sunlight, it’s a really beautiful thing. And hidden on there too are the names of the beneficiaries who took part in that project and we’re really proud of it.”
